FB slates convention
Texas Farm Bureau's 75th annual convention will be Saturday through Monday at the American Bank Center in Corpus Christi.
This year marks the state's largest farm organization's 75th anniversary.
On Saturday, Texas Farm Bureau President Kenneth Dierschke, executive director Vernie Glasson and organization director Joe Maley will answer questions about Farm Bureau's policy-setting convention, the agricultural issues of 2008 and 2009, and the importance of agriculture to the Coastal Bend.
Other convention highlights include youth scholarship competitions; the president's address; TFB Pioneer Awards; presentation of Outstanding Young Farmer & Rancher Awards; Excellence in Agriculture Awards; the 75th anniversary dinner and celebration; and a business and policy session.
Other events slated include discussions of the risk management aspects of federal farm policy; private property rights/eminent domain; renewable energy resources; fever ticks; and rural/urban issues.
