Swine show set Saturday

The Lampasas FFA will host the annual San Saba District FFA Swine Show Saturday at the Lampasas County Youth Livestock Showbarn.

FFA and 4-H members from Lampasas, Burnet, San Saba, Llano, Mills, McCullough and Concho counties are eligible to compete.

Over 130 entries are expected, and the agenda calls for check-in and weighing from 7-10 a.m.

A showmanship clinic is set at 10 a.m. by Joe Vann, and competition begins at 10:30 a.m.

Categories for competition include Duroc, cross, white OPB, black OPB, Yorkshire and Hampshire breeds.

Showmanship awards will be presented for exhibitors in the following classifications: pee-wee, prekindergarten through second grade; juniors, grades three through five; intermediate for those in grades seven through nine; and seniors, grades 10 through 12.

Champion belt buckles, showmanship prizes and premiums will be awarded with sponsorships by local businesses and individuals.

Swine judge will be Terry Baize from Hamilton.
