CTC releases December non-credit course list

The Central Texas College Continuing Education Department is conducting registration for classes in December.

Introduction to the Internet and E-mail: Surf the information superhighway in this interactive class for beginners. Topics include e-mail basics, search engines, chat options and Internet security. The class will meet each Saturday, Dec. 6-20, from 8 a.m. to noon. The cost is $51.

Introduction to Social Media for Enterprise: Get a quick introduction to social media and Web 2.0 in this class specifically geared toward corporations, businesses and organizations. Learn the basics about the numerous Web 2.0 tools, platforms and media resources available online and how they are being used for sharing information and collaborating with others. Class will include demonstrations of how you can put social tools such as blogs, podcasts, widgets and wikis to work in your organization. The class will meet Dec. 6 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Cost is $22.

Restoring Balance and Energy: This class is all about relaxation and rejuvenation. Choose and experience 10 essential oils; listen to Tibetan and crystal bowls to restore balance to the body; learn what position is best for relaxing and rejuvenating. The class meets Dec. 6 from 10 a.m. to noon. The cost is $26.

Discover Scuba: Discover the excitement, adventure, freedom and serenity of the weightless exhilaration of breathing underwater. This program takes one underwater in a swimming pool with the supervision of a PADI dive professional. This course does not end in certification, and all equipment is provided. Class meets Wednesday, Dec. 10 from 7:30-9 p.m. The cost is $36.

CTC's Continuing Education also offers online courses starting each month. From personal enrichment to professional and technical training, the online instructor-facilitated classes are informative, fun, convenient and highly interactive. Courses can be completed entirely from one's home or office at any time of the day or night. All courses run six weeks (with a twoweek grace period at the end).

Courses are project-oriented and include lessons, quizzes, hands-on assignments, discussion areas, supplementary links and more.
