Hornets get ready for playoff contest
      For Lometa, it's a good news, bad news situation. The good news is the Hornets will not have to worry about facing Richland Springs during this year's playoff run. The bad news is the only four teams sitting ahead of Richland Springs in the state's standings all reside on Lometa's side of the bracket.

Benefit set for local family
      A benefit will be held for the Randy Benningfield family Saturday at Lometa Music Hall. The doors will open at 4 p.m., and music will begin at 5 p.m. An auction will be held during intermission, and donations are being accepted.

Lometa toddler receives crown
      Chloe Thorp, 2, of Lometa was crowned the 2008 national Today's Baby Photogenic & Portfolio winner in August at The Crowne Plaza Hotel in Houston. This was Chloe's first year to compete in the Today's Girl youth organization.

      The holiday season, also known as the "eating season," is coming, but one can take control one meal at a time, according to experts at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. "It all starts with breakfast," said Molly Gee, a registered dietitian at BCM.

Lometa girls split games
      The Lometa Lady Hornets are acquiring a "never-say-die" attitude. Coming off a disappointing four-point loss to Blanket last week, Lometa bounced back with a dominating performance against Santa Anna, earning its first win of the season by 20 points, 61-41, last Friday.
