Veterans Day events to be held

A number of events are planned next week to honor veterans.
American Legion Post 277, along with area Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, will place flags on veterans' graves in Oak Hill Cemetery on Saturday at 8 a.m. The public is invited. About 100 people attended last year's event.
The American Legion post also is organizing a Veterans Day wreath-laying and the playing of "Taps" on the downtown square on Tuesday. The wreath-laying will begin at 11 a.m. to commemorate the signing of the Armistice, which ended World War I, on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month in 1918.
"Veterans Day is a day to honor all veterans -- those who have gone and those who are still here," American Legion Post 277 Commander Harry Hollister said.
