Jeanette Rosales and John Faulstich helped their respective teammates to good finishes at the recent meet. Behind a pair of second-place team finishes at the district meet, both Lometa varsity cross country squads are advancing to regionals in Arlington on Nov. 8.

The varsity boys were paced by John Faulstitch (seventh overall) and Dylan Straley (ninth), who both earned individual invitations to the regional meet as well.

Lometa's remaining runners were not far behind.

Hector Ortiz placed 14th, followed by Junior Castruita at 15th. Edgar Castruita rounded out the squad with a 17th-place finish.

Maria Jaso led the girls' team, crossing the finish line fifth, while teammate Jeanette Rosales completed the course in eighth place.

Only seconds separated Patricia Viera (16th) and Maribel Reyes (17th), giving the Lady Hornets four top 20 finishers.

Marissa Nichols (25th) and Hannah Purser (31st) were the other Lometa runners.

Jaso and Rosales both advance to regionals based on their individual finishes.
