CTC Continuing Education courses offered

The Central Texas College Continuing Education Department is holding registration for its noncredit courses. A variety of exercise, self-improvement, computer and art classes are available.

Jazzercise: Perfect for any fitness level, this class offers a blend of jazz dance and exercise science set to popular music. Easy-to-follow, choreography includes a gentle warm-up, a onehour high-intensity aerobic workout, muscle toning, strengthening with weights and a stretch finale. Class meets Tuesdays and Thursdays, Nov. 4- 27, from 5:40- 6:40 p.m. A Monday/Wednesday class also is scheduled at the same time through Nov. 26. Cost for either class is $26.

Yoga: Designed to connect the mind and body, class will focus on strength and balance movements designed to increase flexibility and reduce stress. Class is appropriate for all fitness levels. The class meets Tuesdays and Thursdays, Nov. 4- Dec. 2, from 5:45-6:45 p.m. Cost is $26. Another yoga class will meet each Friday, Nov. 7 to Dec. 19, from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Cost for that class is $19.

Core Strength and Conditioning:

This new class is similar to Pilates and is appropriate for all fitness levels. Participants will develop their body uniformly and with correct posture while toning muscles and gaining flexibility. Class meets Mondays and Wednesdays, Nov. 12 to Dec. 10, from noon to 12:45 p.m. Cost is $26.

Computer Concepts: This beginning class offers an overview of computer and Internet technologies. It will define the basic characteristics of a computer and provide a quick overview of data, information and files. It also includes an overview of applications software, operating systems, platform compatibility, the Internet and e-mail. Students will discuss computer hardware with several lessons focusing on the various technologies that enable a computer to store and retrieve data and programs. The class meets Tuesdays and Thursdays, Nov. 4 to Dec. 11, 6- 8 p.m. Cost is $99.

Access 2003: This introductory course teaches the user basic Access terminology and features. Participants will learn to use several techniques for finding specific information in the database, including sorting, filtering and building queries. Students will explore how to create a database and manipulate data to create reports and forms. The class meets each Friday, Nov. 7 to Dec. 12, from 8 a.m. to noon. The cost is $84.

Anger Resolution: Learn how to make healthy choices and proactively manage one's life. Course topics will include anger inventory and progression, selfevaluation, calming techniques, journaling for ongoing resolution and more. The class will meet Nov. 7 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Cost is $14 plus $15 for a workbook.

Common Sense Parenting: Discover tools to help make childrearing more of a joy. The class will meet Nov. 8 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The cost is $14 plus $15 for the workbook.

Stained Glass: In this demonstration class, students will learn how to make beautiful stained glass pieces. Instruction and demonstration of step-by-step procedures will walk the student through the Tiffany-style of producing stained glass. The class will meet Nov. 8 and 15, from 10 a.m. to noon. The cost is $19.
