Early voting figures nearing 4,000

2008-10-31 / Front Page

Early voting totals for the Nov. 4 General Election continue to grow, as 3,369 Lampasas County citizens had cast ballots by personal appearance through 8 a.m. Thursday. In addition, about 750 mail-in and federal postcard application ballots -- for military personnel and other voters overseas during the election -- had been received through Thursday at 8 a.m.

Early voting by personal appearance continues until 5 p.m. today at the elections administrator's office, 412 S. Live Oak on Courtyard Square.

Typically about half the voters cast their ballots early, Ms. Person said. If that trend continues, as many as 8,000 citizens -- about 62 percent of Lampasas County's approximately 13,000 registered voters -- might participate in the election.

Voters may vote straight party -- Democratic, Republican or Libertarian -- or for individual candidates. Ms. Person encourages voters to bring their voter registration cards with them, as the sign-in process moves much faster if citizens show their cards to election workers.
