Crime Stoppers seeks public assistance

"Are you fed up with criminals ripping off or damaging your property? Are you frustrated by the growing presence of drugs in the community? Do you want to make Lampasas County a safer and more enjoyable place to live? The answer is yes, and Crime Stoppers can offer a solution," said a local law enforcement spokesman.

Lampasas County Crime Stoppers helps communities by providing information about unsolved crimes.

Since the first weeks of September, Lampasas County Sheriff's Office and Police Department officials have seen an increase in construction site thefts and burglaries.

"Lampasas County Crime Stoppers would like your help solving these crimes by offering a reward of up to $1,000 for tips leading to the arrest and indictment of the person or persons responsible for thefts at the following locations," said the spokesman.

-- the new Lampasas High School construction site on U.S. Highway 281 South.

-- The Lampasas County Showbarn, where tools and equipment were taken from a trailer.

-- The construction site in the 1200 block of U.S. Highway 190 East, where a dental office is being built.

-- Phoenix Stone, which had a laptop, laptop case and digital camera taken from the business.

Some of the items taken from the sites include several blue Bobcat 250 NT gas welders, 3500- watt generator, Stihl wacker, Makita-brand saws, laser level with tripod, Dewalt air compressor, gas generator, electric generator, a concrete compactor, electric jack hammer with stand and attachment, and miscellaneous tools and equipment.

Crime Stoppers also will pay rewards for information leading to the arrest and indictment of those responsible for other crimes in the county.
