Accident on CR 3010 sends four to hospital
A one-vehicle accident Monday sent four Lampasas residents to Rollins Brook Community Hospital with non-incapacitating injuries.
A 16-year-old male was driving a Nissan Quest mini-van with three other occupants, according to a report filed by Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper Patrick Hodgkiss.
The driver was going at a high rate of speed when his vehicle hit a set of railroad tracks on County Road 3010 about 12:45 a.m.
The vehicle went airborne, and when it came down, it bottomed out, continuing into a bar ditch. The vehicle fell into a drop-off of about four to five feet.
The Nissan's speed was so great, said Hodgkiss, that it went up the other side of the drop-off, crossing onto County Road 3040. The vehicle then came up on the north edge of the county road and went through a fence and into a pasture.
All occupants were wearing seatbelts, which Hodgkiss credited with saving their lives.
In addition to the driver, another 16-year-old male was in the front passenger seat, and a 21-year-old and 18-year-old were in the back seat.
