Copperas Cove Precinct 1
About 300 Lampasas County residents who live in Precinct 1 within the city of Copperas Cove may vote in a special election set Nov. 4. Early voting is Monday through Oct. 31 at the Elections Administrator's Office, 412 S. Live Oak.
Voters may select from two candidates to fill the unexpired term of mayor ending June 2009. They are Roger "Odie" O'Dwyer and John Hull.
Also on the ballot is a recall election with propositions to remove four Copperas Cove councilmembers from office. They include Robert L. Reeves, Mark E. Peterson, Charlotte Heinze and Ray Don Clayton.
In a special bond election, four propositions are on the ballot, and voters may cast a vote either for or against the following.
Proposition 1: The issuance of $3,700,000 general obligation bonds for a new police headquarters facility and the levy of a tax in payment thereof.
Proposition 2: The issuance of $8,650,000 general obligation bonds for a new multipurpose recreational center and the levy of a tax in payment thereof.
Proposition 3: The issuance of $8,025,000 general obligation bonds for street improvements and the levy of a tax in payment thereof.
Proposition 4: The issuance of $5,125,000 general obligation bonds for extending and improving the city's waterworks and sewer system and the levy of a tax in payment thereof.
