Cattle Auction

The report from the Oct. 8 sale at Lampasas Cattle Auction follows.

Cattle and calves: Estimated receipts 756, compared to last week at 1,216 and 844 last year.

Compared to last week, feeder steers $3-$5 lower. Feeder heifers $2-$3 lower. Slaughter cows steady to firm. Slaughter bulls steady to weak. Trade and demand good.

Bulk supply medium and large frame 1-2, 300-700 lb. feeder steers and heifers. Slaughter cows made up 13 percent of the offering, slaughter bulls 2 percent, replacement cows 1 percent, and feeders 84 percent.

Feeder steers: medium and large frame 1, 300-400 lb., $106-$112, few at $131-$135; 400-500 lb., $101-$109; 500-600 lb., $92-$99; 600-700 lb., $83-$87.

Medium and large frame 2, 400- 500 lb., $90-$98; 500-600 lb., $82- $89; 600-700 lb., $76-$81.

Medium and large frame 3: 400- 500 lb., $80-$87; 500-600 lb., $78- $83; 600-700 lb., $70-$76.

Heifers: medium and large frame 1, 300-400 lb., $95-$102, few at $107; 400-500 lb., $99-$110; 500- 600 lb., $82-$86, few at $101- $109; 600-700 lb., $81-$85; 700- 800 lb., $78-$80.

Medium and large frame 2, 300- 400 lb., $84-$90; 400-500 lb., $78- $85; 500-600 lb., $78-$84; 600-700 lb., $79-$81.

Medium and large frame 3, 300- 400 lb., $72-$81; 400-500 lb., $72- $81.

Replacement cows: aged 760- 1,350 lb. cows 5 to 8 months bred, $555-$816 per head.

Cow/calf pairs: medium and large 1-2: young to middle aged 830-1,155 lb. cows with 100-150 lb. calves, $575-$700 per pair.
