Lady Hornets take fifth at meet
      Lometa's cross country team returned to the course Oct. 1 for its home meet hosted at Lometa Regional Park. The varsity girls' team took fifth place overall behind strong performances from Maria Jaso-Perez (16:58), Jeanette Rosales (17:11) and Patricia Viera (17:55).

      The L-M Garden and Civic Club and the Part-Time Players are laughing all the way to practice as they continue to plan and produce an evening of dining and fun in Lometa on Nov. 15 when the stage production comedy "Dearly Departed" will be performed.

Lometa ISD trustees set to gather on Monday
      The Board of Trustees of the Lometa Independent School District will meet Monday at 6:30 p.m. at the school library for a public hearing on the School First Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas. Other agenda items include a monthly investment report, budget amendments and monthly bills.

      The Arbor Day Foundation is offering two free give-a-tree cards to those who join the foundation during October. Every give-a-tree card honors the recipient with a tree planted in one of the nation's forests. At the same time, give-a-tree cards help the environment by replanting trees in a forest that has been devastated by disease and record wildfires.
