Lampasas Middle School student and Junior FFA member Blayze Bierschwale brought home the "money" and buckle last weekend during the Heart of Texas Fair and Rodeo.

Bierschwale showed the champion shorthorn market steer and won a $500 scholarship from the event. Additionally, he took the junior cattle showmanship award, earning a showmanship buckle for his skill in showing cattle.

He also was fourth with his Hereford steer and sixth with his Angus junior breeding heifer.

The local youth has been exhibiting cattle for five years and is gearing up for the Lampasas County show in January, as well as all the 2009 majors.
