Native Plant Society slates Saturday gathering
The Highland Lakes Chapter of the Native Plant Society of Texas will meet Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Marble Falls Library, 101 Main St., to discuss facts and tidbits about Central Texas plant life.
Discussion on "Useful Native Plants" will center on historical uses, modern applications and favorite myths and legends of native plants.
There will be examples of various plants and a brief slide show to supplement the talk by Jean Nance, a certified Texas master naturalist who has studied the natural history of the Hill Country for more than 20 years.
She leads tours and volunteers regularly with organizations such as the LBJ Wildflower Center, Travis Audubon Society and Balcones Canyonlands National Wildlife Refuge.
