Burnet Democrats to host former representative
Burnet County Democrats will host former Rep. Charles W. Stenholm on Tuesday at the River City Grill in Marble Falls.
Stenholm, a longtime member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Texas' 17th Congressional District, was elected in 1978. He served 26 years as a member of the House Committee on Agriculture and also served on the Budget, Small Business, Veterans and Armed Services committees.
He earned a reputation as a builder of bipartisan alliances in such diverse areas as agriculture, natural resources, conservation, food safety, Social Security, energy, health care for individuals and the national budget.
Burnet County Democrats have asked Stenholm to provide a glimpse into what is happening in Congress during this time in the nation's history.
The event starts at 7 p.m., and seating is limited. Early reservations are recommended by phoning Democratic Headquarters at (512) 715-9081, (830) 693-6094 or (512) 756-4230, or send an e-mail to cristi@okdemocrats.com.
The gathering Tuesday replaces the regular October meeting. Monthly meetings will resume in November.
