Attention athletes and parents

For anyone interested in playing sports in college, the Lampasas High School Counseling Department will host former head coach at Indiana University, Harvard and Dartmouth College, Nancy Nitardy, who will offer a presentation at the school library Monday at 6 p.m.

Ms. Nitardy is the author of "Get Paid to Play: Every High School Athlete's Guide to Over $1 Million in College Scholarships."

She will share detailed information about athletic scholarship opportunities, year-by-year planning, recruiting and the college application process, signing a scholarship, NCAA rules and regulations, how to contact coaches, and making college visits.

Open house

Parents are invited to attend open house Tuesday from 6-7:30 p.m. at the campus. Pick up student schedules and visit teachers in their classrooms.

Reminder: LHS will be administering the PSAT on Wednesday morning to all sophomores and juniors.

Any freshman who wants to take the PSAT must sign up in the counselors' office by Monday. Cost for freshmen is $13.

The Exit-Level TAKS retest will be given at Lampasas High School on the following dates to anyone who has not met the standards. Students need to report to the test room at 8 a.m.

ELA: Oct. 21; math, Oct. 22; science, Oct. 23; and social studies, Oct. 24.

LHS will offer the following review classes on these dates from 3:45-5 p.m. each day.

Wednesday: all subjects. Thursday: all subjects. Oct. 20: ELA only, room 300.

Oct. 21: math only, room 405.

Oct. 22: science only, room 207.

Oct. 23: social studies only, room 502.
