Rain earlier in the week provides measure of relief

With such a shortfall of wet weather, Lampasas Countians likely were glad to receive nearly two inches of rain earlier this week. Forecasters predict a slight chance of showers over the weekend. Thunderstorms Monday and Tuesday brought two inches or more of rain to most parts of Lampasas County.
Lampasas received 1.8 inches of rain Monday, according to the National Weather Service observer station.
Dave Hamilton measured 1.6 inches of rain Friday at his home west of Lometa. Rain totaled 3.2 inches between Friday and Monday.
Noel and Pat Dannheim recorded a total of 2.5 inches of rain Monday and Tuesday at their home near Adamsville.
Christine Groves received 2.3 inches of precipitation in Rumley during the two-day span.
Luther and Beth Hensley got more than 2.5 inches of rain in Nix.
Lampasas County has received 22.15 inches of rain this year, compared with 37.79 inches at this point last year after the area was hit with flooding rains in May.
The county's average annual rainfall is about 29.5 inches, according to the Texas Almanac.
