Maurine Hicks Williams, 92, died Oct. 5, 2008, after complications from a broken hip.

Her family and friends will gather at Mrs. Williams' home on Oct. 18 to share food and drink and recount stories of their experiences with her.

Mrs. Williams' ashes will be buried next to her husband's grave at the cemetery at Jonesboro on Oct. 19.

She was born Oct. 16, 1915, in Grimes County, the daughter of Jim Lee and Sarah Belle Hicks.

After graduating from Texas A&M Consolidated High School in College Station, she married JT Williams of Turnersville on July 7, 1937.

He preceded her in death in 1998.

Survivors include two children, Jay Thayer Williams and Terrisa Joy Williams Mabrey; a daughterin law, Susan Quante; a son-in-law, J. Stephen Mabrey; and two grandchildren, Kimberly Williams Thomas and Richard Williams.
