Mrs. Brooks
      Austin resident Blynda Lou Brooks, 58, died Oct. 4, 2008, in an Austin hospital. Funeral services were Oct. 9 at Briggs-Gamel-Wilcox Funeral Chapel in Lampasas with burial at Hurst Ranch Cemetery in Goldthwaite. Mrs. Brooks was born Dec. 20, 1949, in Bastrop, the daughter of Howard and Theo Holder.

Mr. Johnson
      Clayton Eugene Johnson died Oct. 7, 2008, at his residence in Lometa. He was 55. A memorial service will be held at a later date at Family of Faith Church in Lometa. The body will be cremated. Mr. Johnson was born Oct. 11, 1952, in San Saba, the son of Kenneth Clayton and Lucille Lusty Johnson.

Mrs. Reavis
      Temple resident Helen Ruth Reavis, 81, died Oct. 5, 2008, at Weston Inn Health Center in Temple. Graveside services are Oct. 10 at 11 a.m. at Tobey Cemetery at Oakalla with the Rev. Johnny Miller, pastor of Oak Park United Methodist Church of Temple, officiating.

Mr. Smith
      A private memorial service will be held at Lometa Cemetery for Carl "Winfred" Smith. He died May 25, 2008, in a Fort Worth hospital from complications following surgery. He was 83. Mr. Smith was born May 9, 1925, near Lometa, where he grew up and attended school. He was the son of Carl Stevens and Emma Lou Sims Smith.

Mrs. Williams
      Maurine Hicks Williams, 92, died Oct. 5, 2008, after complications from a broken hip. Her family and friends will gather at Mrs. Williams' home on Oct. 18 to share food and drink and recount stories of their experiences with her.
