Resource work group to meet

2008-10-07 / Agribusiness

The Natural Resources Conservation Service and the Hill Country Soil and Water Conservation District will conduct a Local Work Group meeting at the Lampasas County Office Building Oct. 16 at 10 a.m. The public is invited.

The meeting is designed to receive comments from agencies, organizations, businesses and individuals with an interest in natural resources conditions and needs in Lampasas and Burnet counties.

Public input will allow the LWG to make recommendations about resource concerns to be addressed for county-based funding. Recommendations will be used in implementing the Environmental Quality Incentives Program and other NRCS conservation programs.

The 2008 Farm Bill stipulates that conservation programs must continue to be locally led. Through stakeholder meetings, the public is given an opportunity to help local conservation leaders set program priorities.

For more information, phone the USDA Service Center office in Lampasas at 556-5572, ext. 3. Service center locations and program information can be found on the Texas NRCS Web site at www.tx.nrcs.usda.gov.
