John A. Thorp A memorial service for John A. Thorp, 87, of Lampasas will be held at a later date in Kansas. The body was cremated.

Mr. Thorp died Sept. 22, 2008, at Spring Oaks Nursing & Rehab.

He was born March 16, 1921, in Kansas, the son of Albert Richard and Lillian Marie Thorp.

Mr. Thorp married Betty Louise Harman in 1953 in Kansas City, Kan.

After college, Mr. Thorp served in the U.S. Navy. He worked for Westinghouse as an engineer for many years before he began his own business, Gas Turbine Controls, where he was a consultant recognized nationally for his expertise on the installation and repair of gas turbines.

Survivors include a niece and a nephew and a host of friends.

The family requested memorials be made to Lighthouse Hospice, 1803 E. Polk St., Burnet, TX 78611.
