LHS tennis beats Marble Falls in district opener
Players unite to win match, build momentum
      Prior to Tuesday's match against Marble Falls, tennis coach Kenneth Peiser had an array of unanswered questions concerning his squad lingering in his head. After earning a 12-8 victory in the district opener, the coach can, at least temporarily, scratch the subjects of team unity and individual desire off the list.

Lady Badgers fine tuning before district
      The Lampasas volleyball team has not played a match since last Friday when they lost on the road to Gatesville. Tonight the Lady Badgers open their district schedule with a match against Hutto's Lady Hippos.

U-12 Force victorious over Brentwood in season opener
      Two weeks ago, Alex Ruehlen netted a pair of goals, including the final score of the game, to bring the U-12 Force back from a two-point deficit before its game against Leander ended in a tie. Turns out, he was just getting warmed up.

Badger Stadium to hold 'Fields of Faith' event
      In the fall, Badger Stadium is usually reserved for helmet-cracking and touchdown celebrations, but on Oct. 8 students and athletes will trade their playbooks and programs for Bibles at the fifth annual "Fields of Faith" outreach event.

Giving back to the Badgers
      Benton Chiropractic Clinic held its third annual Lampasas Independent School District Athletic Day on Sept. 9. Dr. Craig Benton swapped chiropractic services for donations to the LISD athletic department for various supplies.

      GOLF TOURNAMENTS The 8th annual Moo-oonlight Madness Golf Tournament is scheduled for Oct. 18 at the Hancock Park Golf Course in Lampasas. The tournament is hosted by the Colorado River CattleWomen, with proceeds to benefit the organization.

      Waco's Animal Birth Control Clinic and the Waco Striders are teaming up to sponsor the 2008 Bow-Wow-Meow River Run on Oct. 4. The race benefits the clinic's Trap-Neuter-Return program intended to provide residents with an alternative to feral cat control.

Fish needed for breeding
      Texas Parks and Wildlife Department will begin accepting entries into the Budweiser ShareLunker Oct. 1. Anyone who legally catches a 13-pound or bigger largemouth bass from Texas waters, public or private, between Oct. 1 and April 30 may submit the fish to the program by calling David Campbell at (903) 681-0550 or paging him at (888) 784-0600 and leaving a phone number.
