A Lampasas County resident was killed Monday at approximately 4:40 p.m. in a tractor rollover on County Road 2315.

Lampasas County Sheriff Gordon Morris released information stating Marcelino Contreras, 43, had been operating a tractor and drove the left wheels off the edge of an embankment which resulted in the rollover.

The tractor came to rest upside-down with Contreras trapped underneath, said the sheriff.

Contreras was pronounced dead at the scene by Justice of the Peace Sheila Blackwell Hood.

Deputy Jerome Ervin, Deputy Benito Uvalle and Sgt. Greg Chapman responded to the scene after a 911 call. They were assisted by personnel from Capital Ambulance, Lampasas Fire Department and Jim Hoffpauir Inc.
