Kempner resident Adois "Frog" Speer, 63, died Sept. 23, 2008, in a Killeen hospital.

Funeral services are Sept. 26 at 10 a.m. at Clear Creek Baptist Church in Kempner with Pastor Thomas Edwards officiating. Burial will follow in Smith Cemetery in Kempner.

Mr. Speer was born Jan. 18, 1945, in Lampasas, the son of Therman Otos and Vada Jane Carroll Speer.

He graduated from Lampasas High School in 1963, and on Nov. 26, 1966, Mr. Speer married Kay Mickan.

He was a quality control inspector on Fort Hood for many years.

His hobbies included watching deer and family get-togethers to make the Mickan family sausage.

Survivors include his wife of Kempner; a son, Lance Speer and wife, Jennifer, of Killeen; a daughter, Bandy Swenson and husband, Dan, of Harker Heights; a grandson, Riley Swenson; two step-grandchildren, Jeniece Fenderson and Tristen O'Farrel; a sister and her husband, Derlice and Quentin Hughes, of Kempner; and numerous nieces, nephews and inlaws and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Pallbearers are Jeff Kendrick, Seth Kendrick, Aaron Mickan, Flint Hughes, Ed Payne, Leon Howard, Marcus Mickan and Sammy Lee.

Honorary pallbearers are Clayton Parks, Leon Carroll, Andy Anderson and Charles Speer.

The family requested memorials be made to Trinity Lutheran Church in care of the New Building Fund, 518 E. Highway 190, Copperas Cove, TX 76522, or the American Cancer Society, 2433 Ridgepoint Dr., Suite B, Austin, TX 78754.
