The Texas Water Development Board approved a loan to the Kempner Water Supply Corp. (Lampasas, Bell, Coryell and Burnet counties) for $7 million from the Rural Water Assistance Fund to finance water system improvements, utilizing the predesign funding option.

KWSC will complete construction of a 7.08 million-gallon-perday water treatment plant and water transmission line. Loan proceeds will be used for the increased construction costs to complete the project previously approved by the TWDB in July 2006.

KWSC is a non-profit corporation organized and established under Chapter 67 of the Texas Water Code. It provides water service to customers in Lampasas, Bell, Coryell and Burnet counties in Central Texas and covers approximately 300 square miles. It serves about 4,837 customers.

The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional planning and preparing the State Water Plan for the development of the state's water resources, and administering cost-effective financial programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control and agricultural water conservation projects.
