LHS youth competes at horse show

Brandyl Brooks and Gunsmoke Dixon competed at the World Championship Paint Horse Show in Fort Worth. Brandyl Brooks attended the 2008 World Championship Paint Horse Show in Fort Worth June 21-26. She and her English gelding, Willionaire, placed 11th in Hunt Seat Equitation.

Gunsmoke Dixon, her western gelding, placed 13th in barrel racing, 12th in pole bending, sixth in stake race, and 14th in working cowhorse.

Brandyl also participated in the Texas State Stars Youth Team Tournament with Gunsmoke and placed third in barrel racing.

Gunsmoke Dixon was chosen by the American Paint Horse Association to show in the Paint World Games portion of the show where seven countries competed against each other in reining and trail. He placed third and fourth, ridden by the Equestrian Riding Team from Sweden.

During the world show, Brandyl attended the annual American Junior Paint Horse Association Banquet and National Convention in which she was voted president-elect for the organization for 2008-09.

She fulfilled the presidential project by raising $2,500 at the Zone 4 Paint-O-Rama in Waco, where she donated the funds to the Heart of Texas American Red Cross.
