At its most recent meeting, the Lampasas County Commissioners Court voted to give Bar 7 Partners, the developer of Cactus Creek subdivision, an additional two weeks to comply with court requirements for final plat acceptance.

County Judge Wayne Boultinghouse, Precinct 2 Commissioner Alex Wittenburg, Precinct 3 Commissioner Lowell Ivey and Precinct 4 Commissioner Jack B. Cox voted for the extension. Precinct 1 Commissioner Robert Vincent abstained.

Vincent said the developer still needs to submit required paperwork and build a retention pond in the subdivision -- located off Farm-to- Market Road 2657 -- to catch runoff. The Commissioners Court on June 9 granted conditional approval of a final plat and made the approval contingent upon compliance with a list of requirements Vincent presented the developer.

Vincent said the developer believed the deadline for compliance was Sept. 22, although Vincent said the Commissioners Court approved a Sept. 8 deadline.

"I'm one to think we should stick to our guns," the commissioner said, "but if there was a misrepresentation we need to be fair in that respect."

In another matter, the court voted 5-0 to approve an e-mail service agreement with the County Information Resources Agency.

CIRA provides free e-mail access through Outlook Express to county elected officials and one assistant per official.

Officials may opt out if they do not wish to have a county e-mail account.

Vincent noted that the Freedom of Information Act requires the county to keep files of all e-mails.

In other business, the Commissioners Court voted 5-0 to give the Hill Country Community Action Association $849 to delivers meals to homebound residents of Lampasas County.

The court also voted unanimously to establish a 90-day ban, effective immediately, on outdoor burning in unincorporated areas of the county.

Exceptions to the ban include agricultural burns with prior approval of the county fire marshal, barbecue pits for cooking and household trash burned in a barrel with a screen on top.

A violation of the burn order is a Class C misdemeanor, punishable by a fine not to exceed $500.

In addition, the Commissioners Court voted 5-0 to approve the appointment of Martha Jackson, Samantha Anderson, Louella Tate and Neal White to two-year terms on the Board of Trustees of the Central Counties Center for Mental Health Mental Retardation.
