Mr. Murgatroyd
George Murgatroyd Funeral services with full military honors for Lampasan George William Murgatroyd Jr., 66, are Sept. 16, 2008, at 2 p.m. at Briggs- Gamel-Wilcox Funeral Chapel in Lampasas. The Rev. Rodney Andrews will officiate, and burial will be at Bend Cemetery.
Mr. Murgatroyd died Sept. 12 in a Lampasas hospital.
He was born June 29, 1942, in Zanesville, Ohio, to William Henry and Mary Louise Robinson Murgatroyd. He married Bobbie Key on Dec. 22, 1972, in Belton.
Mr. Murgatroyd retired as a staff sergeant from the U.S. Army after more than 21 years' service. Medals he received include National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Driver and Mechanic Badge (Mechanic), and Good Conduct Medal (fifth award).
Mr. Murgatroyd had worked for the past five years with M&M Automotive in Lampasas.
Survivors include his wife of Lampasas; two sons, Jerry Key and wife, Cindy, of Lampasas, and Michael Key of Frederick, Md.; one brother, Richard Quel and wife, Chrissy, of Pittsburg, Pa.; a sister, Susan Rush of Finleyville, Pa.; four grandchildren, April and Jamie Key, Jessica Tate and Dylan Angel; one great-granddaughter, Harlee Jean Tate; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by stepsons, Jimmy Key and Kenneth Masten.
