Cattle Auction
      The report from the Sept. 3 sale at Lampasas Cattle Auction is as follows. Cattle and calves: Estimated receipts 688, compared to last week at 1,149 and 510 last year. Compared to last week, feeder steers under 500 lb., $8-$10 higher; over 500 lb., $5-$6 higher. Feeder heifers under 500 lb., $10 higher; over 500 lb., $5 higher. Slaughter cows steady to weak.

Grazing workshops slated at several locations
      A series of grazing workshops for land managers and livestock and wildlife producers will continue through Oct. 1. "My Piece of Texas" grazing schools will teach participants how to estimate forage production, determine grazeable acres and set proper stocking rates, as well as learn grazing management principles.
