Tri-City Express, Lampasas Force soccer teams begin schedules with victories

The Tri-City Express U-19 girls' team won its season opener last Sunday, easily defeating the TC Awesome Blossoms 5-0.

Jacky Lovejoy scored the first goal of the match at the 16-minute mark and then, two minutes later, added another by targeting a 25- yard shot into the upper right corner of the goal.

River Hooks then expanded the lead by scoring from short range with an assist from Paige Esplana.

In the second half, Lucy Wolfram scored at the 75-minute mark to give the Express a 4-0 lead.

The lead grew to five points after Kelsey Wilcox directed an arching shot over the head of the Awesome Blossoms' goalkeeper.

Express goalkeeper Liz Hawthorn made several saves during the match to preserve the shutout victory.

In other action, the Lampasas Force got its season off to a promising

start as the U-14 and U-12 teams both won.

Against the CCU Vortex, the Lampasas U-14 club came away with a 2-0 win behind a pair of goals from Anthony Velarde.

Goalkeeper Joshua Barbero was instumental in the victory

The U-12 team held Lago Vista scoreless in a 9-0 rout.

The Force's U-16 team did not have similar success, as it fell 5-1 to the Round Rock Santos.
