Mr. Henry
Bill E. Henry Funeral services for Bill E. Henry, 72, of McMinn County, Tenn., were Sept. 11, 2008, at Ziegler Funeral Home Chapel in Athens. Tenn.
He died Sept. 7 at Fort Loudon Medical Center in Lenoir City, Tenn.
A native of Lampasas, Mr. Henry was the son of Eugene V. Henry and Beulah M. "Bootsie" Elledge Henry Parks. He also was a former resident of Austin, San Antonio and Marietta, Ga.
Mr. Henry graduated from Lampasas High School in 1954.
He had resided in McMinn County for more than 30 years. He was a member of McMahan Calvary Baptist Church.
He served in the U.S. Air Force, after which he attended the University of Texas and the University of Tennessee at Knoxville.
Mr. Henry was an active member of the Athens Lions Club where he served in numerous positions on the district, state and international levels. He also was a member of the Jaycees and was served as McMinn County chairman for Gov. McWherter's Drug-Free Tennessee Program.
Mr. Henry served on the board of the McMinn County Rescue Squad and was a member of the VFW.
Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Dorothy J. "Dottie" Fagg Henry, of Athens; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Haila Henry Mahan of Waco, Monica Diane Henry Conley and husband, Rob, of Oklahoma City, and Sandra Lynn Dillon Patridge and husband, Steve, of Tampa, Fla.; three sons and a daughter-in-law, Mark Henry Watson and Jay Henry Watson and wife, Kim, all of Waco, and Jeffrey Dean Dillon of San Antonio; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one sister and brother-inlaw, Sherrie Parks Jenkins and husband, Larry, of Athens; and uncle; several nieces and nephews; and several cousins.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Norman R. Henry; and a brother-in-law, John William Fagg.
The family requested memorials be made to Operation KidSight, Tennessee Lions Charities Inc., 505 Fesslers Lane, Nashville, TN 37210-2814, in memory of PCC PDG Lion Bill Henry.
