CROSS COUNTRY

Brandon Willie battled the course and the early-morning heat last Friday in Waco, but still hit his stride, taking 10th place at the Midway Invitational.

The 5K event began around 9:30 a.m. -- three hours later than the team typically practices -- but Willie crossed the finish line in 17:10. Just three seconds behind, David Bloomfield took 13th place out of 220 competing varsity runners.

With a time of 18:24, Jonathan Lohmann was the only other Badger to finish in the top 50, placing 42nd.

Tiffany Fagg was the only girl to finish in the top 50 for Lampasas, placing 36th out of 238 runners.

Lampasas is scrambling to find a meet for this Friday after its scheduled meet in Liberty Hill was canceled.
