Gov. Palin's inaccuracies
I just want to offer a little public service announcement regarding Ms. Sarah Palin's acceptance speech at the Republican convention.
When she said, "I put it on eBay," in talking about the previous governor's luxury jet, she implies that she sold it on eBay. It did not sell on eBay. It was ultimately sold by an aircraft broker and fortunately for the taxpayers, his commission was roughly one-fifth of what the eBay commission would have been on the asking price. John McCain was taken in by this implication, and he has repeated the misstatement that she "sold it on eBay" again even today. If she didn't intend to mislead anyone, she should clue him in.
Another stump standard that Gov. Palin repeated in this speech was her claim that she was not in favor of the "Bridge to Nowhere" pork that Sen. Ted Stevens bagged for Alaska. She supported his efforts until the glare of bad publicity spurred her to cancel the bridge project, but she kept the earmark money!
Can we get some reporting on the natural gas pipeline project she touted, and her role in the negotiations? I want to know about her actual role in that deal, because the previous two items make me wonder.
Just viewing this speech, viewers may have taken a liking to this woman based on her style, feisty manner and self-proclaimed beliefs, but lies of misdirection and lies of omission are still lies. Before promoting her as the "real deal," can we please find out what the deal really is? I, for one, am tired of the last eight years of government by fraud. Please, voters, do some research. Don't get fooled again!
