Shirley Evelyn Short, 95, of Lampasas, formerly of Worthington, Ind., died Sept. 6, 2008, at a Lampasas nursing home.

Funeral services will be in Worthington next week, and a service for the family in Texas will be planned at a later date.

Mrs. Short was born Feb. 28, 1913, in Worthington, the daughter of Barton and Jessie Kirkpatrick Morris.

She married Wallace Short and worked for many years for the U.S. Postal Service.

Mrs. Short was an avid flower gardener, loved history and was a member of the Daughters of the Republic and the Christian church.

Survivors include a sister, Joan Smith, of Lampasas County; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, and by three brothers and three sisters.
