Badgers look to bounce back
Lampasas hopes week of increasing stamina will prevent another last-minute loss
      In the fourth quarter of last Friday's loss against Manor, the Badgers ran out of time. They ran out of steam, too. Head coach Ryan Bailey will never be able to turn back the hands of time, but he can take measures to ensure his varsity squad has enough endurance to finish games.

      GOLF TOURNAMENT The Metroplex Health System Foundation is holding its ninth annual Fall Golf Classic on Sept. 14 to benefit Rollins Brook Community Hospital. The tournament is set for 1 p.m. at Hancock Park Municipal Golf Course in Lampasas.

      Defensive back Kacey Tucker carries the ball during defensive drills at Wednesday's practice as Lampasas prepares for the first home game of the season against Rockdale tonight at 7:30 p.m. The Badgers look to grab their first win of the year after losing 20-13 to Manor last week.

Soccer clinic teaches the finer points of coaching
     The Lampasas Soccer Association sponsored a coaching clinic last month consisting of 18 hours of instruction (5 hours in the classroom and 13 hours on the field) with 21 coaches from surrounding areas in attendance. The clinic covered prevention and care of injuries, coaching techniques, coaching strategies and rules of the game. The Lampasas Soccer Association is still accepting players ages 10-18 for the fall season. For more information contact Jerry Barbero at (512) 734-0097.
