The Agriculture Teachers Association of Texas (VATAT) recognized more than 200 teachers and supporters of agricultural science during the recent VATAT Professional Development Conference for Agriculture, Food & Natural Resources Cluster in Corpus Christi.

Tenure Awards were given to teachers and associate members of the association who have dedicated themselves to teaching and/or supporting agricultural science. Recipients with 20 or more years of VATAT tenure were honored with a commemorative plaque and lapel pin. Thirty-year tenure recipients also received a VATAT watch.

Among those honored was Dr. Steve Forsythe of Lampasas High School, who received recognition for 35 years of service.

"The VATAT is proud to recognize the achievements of our members and the dedication of our supporters," said Gerald Young, executive director of the VATAT.

Ag science teachers spent the week attending professional development workshops, educational tours and general sessions with motivational speakers. They also received updates on the latest curriculum developments in agricultural education and technology.
