At the recent meeting of the Highland Lakes Democratic Women, Shirley Schmidt discussed candidates for judicial seats and the importance of getting the right ones elected. She also emphasized that voters should know who is running and their positions on the many views facing constituents today.

A report from the bylaws committee was given. A vote will be held at the September meeting.

The film "Iron Jaw Angels" will be showing at the Uptown Theater in Marble Falls in September. It is the story of the suffragette movement on the 75th anniversary of women getting the right to vote.

Marti Pogue, HLDW president, encouraged everyone to make plans to see the show. "Everyone needs to know the sacrifices made to achieve this historic event."
