Cardiovascular health will be the focus of the first summit on the Comprehensive Care of Women presented by the Women's Health Center for Comprehensive Care at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston.

The conference is set Oct. 18 at the Onstead Auditorium at The University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston.

Its purpose is to provide continuing medical education for physicians and other health-care providers. Students, residents, fellows and medical professionals are encouraged to attend.

While there will be a focus on cardiovascular health, the topics also will include osteoporosis, pregnancy, weight loss surgery, breast cancer and hormone replacement therapy.

The BCM presenters will be physicians who treat patients in the Women's Center at the Baylor Clinic.

Donna Sollenberger, CEO of the Baylor Clinic and Hospital and executive vice president at BCM, will be the keynote speaker.

Special guest speaker will be Dr. Elyse Foster, professor of medicine and director of both the adult echocardiography laboratory and adult congenital heart disease service at the University of California, San Francisco.
