The Central Texas College Continuing Education department will open the fall semester with a variety of new classes and returning favorites.

Non-credit classes are planned for business, computers, selfimprovement, arts and crafts, language and exercise. Registration is under way for the following courses.

Computer Concepts: This beginning class provides an overview of computer and Internet technologies. Topics include applications software, operating systems, Internet and e-mail. Class will meet Tuesdays and Thursdays, Sept. 2 to Oct. 9, 9 -11 a.m. Cost is $99 plus $22 for the course book.

PowerPoint 2003: Learn to create professional-looking documents and presentations using this computer graphics program. Class will meet Tuesdays and Thursdays, Sept. 2- 25, 1- 3 p.m. Cost is $74.

Astrology for Beginners: Discuss horoscopes, astrological history, planets, signs, houses, aspects and charts. Class will meet Tuesdays and Thursdays, Sept. 2-11, 6:30- 8:30 p.m. Cost is $46.

Jazzercise: This class blends jazz dance and exercise science with easy-to-follow choreography for a high-level aerobic workout. The class also includes muscle toning and strengthening with weights. Class will meet Tuesdays and Thursdays, Sept. 2- 30, 5:40- 6:40 p.m. There is also a class each Monday and Wednesday, Sept. 3- 29, at the same time. Cost for either class is $26.

Indoor Cycling: Exercise by riding a stationary bike at varying levels of intensity to burn calories and improve cardiovascular fitness. Class meets Fridays, Sept. 5 to Oct. 17, 11:45 a.m.- 12:45 p.m. Cost is $23.

Sign Language: Course is for those interested in communicating with deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals, studying non-verbal communication or entering an ever-growing career field. American Sign Language class includes the basics of finger spelling, conversational phrases, basic grammar and courtesies to be extended to deaf individuals. Class meets Tuesdays and Thursdays, Sept. 2- 25, 6:30- 8:30 p.m. Cost is $41.

Mommy and Me Sign Language: Mommies and babies will learn to communicate with sign language. Class is ideal for all children including hearing, deaf and delayed-speech children. Class meets Wednesdays, Sept. 3 to Nov. 26, 4:30- 5:15 p.m. Cost is $31.

Beginning Art: This new class teaches students to use charcoal and pastels to perform several basic art exercises. Instruction includes composition, perspective, value drawing and color theory as well as basic techniques for a beginning student to move on to more advanced drawings or paintings. The goal is to practice hand-eye coordination, motor skills, and perceive an artist's way of viewing tints, tones and shades of color. Class will meet Saturdays, Sept. 6- 27, 10 a.m. to noon. Cost is $26.
