Losing streaks are no fun.

Just ask the Lady Badgers varsity volleyball team.

When the Gatesville Tournament drew to a close Saturday, Lampasas was still without a win on the season, as it dropped three matches over the two-day competition, falling to Waco Robinson, Hamilton and Lago Vista.

Lampasas is winless through nine matches.

After losing to Robinson 25-16 and 25-20 on Thursday, the Lady Badgers came up short in a pair of tight contests Saturday, including a 23-25, 25-15, 24-26 three-set loss in their final match of the tourna- ment.

"The girls did so good, it was such a heartbreaker to lose that one," head coach Tracey Myers said.

The Lady Badgers are young with little varsity experience, sporting three sophomores and five juniors on the roster. Additionally, they are still learning each other's personalities and how to work with one another.

It's a problem Myers deals with one match at a time, but she feels confident the girls will improve once their schedule allows them to practice more often.

Since opening their season on Aug. 11, the Lady Badgers have played five matches and participated in two tournaments, each consisting of multiple matches, leaving little time for Myers to properly address all her team's issues.

"Starting with practice on Monday, they're going to get into a good routine, and those little things we have to improve are going to get a lot better," the coach said.

"Our offense is working really well. We're going to work on our defense, because a good defense makes for a great offense."

The Lady Badgers' next opportunity to grab the first victory of their young season comes on Tuesday when Brownwood travels to Lampasas. That will be followed by the Robinson Tournament this Thursday and Saturday.
