Two injured in accident
Lampasas Police Officer Jeff Dunlap writes a report following a two-vehicle accident on U.S. Highway 190 and Central Texas Expressway last week. A two-vehicle accident last Tuesday at 3 p.m. in the 600 block of Central Texas Expressway sent two to Rollins Brook Community Hospital with possible injuries.
According to a report filed by Lampasas Police Officer Jeff Dunlap, Henry Purser, 92, of Lampasas was the driver of a 1999 Dodge Intrepid. He was preparing to make a left turn onto Central Texas Expressway from Park Lane after stopping for a stop sign.
Copperas Cove resident Shirley Hawthorne was eastbound on Central Texas Expressway in the inside lane.
Dunlap's report states that Purser attempted to pull onto Central Texas Expressway when conditions were unsafe due to traffic.
Ms. Hawthorne applied her vehicle's brakes and attempted to move over but struck the Intrepid.
Both vehicles were towed due to damage.
Purser was not injured in the accident, but his wife, Ruth, and Ms. Hawthorne were taken by Capital Ambulance to the Lampasas hospital.
