LHS FFA program earns gold medal

Lampasas FFA members Kelsie Ray, center, and Sara Jackson, right, accepted the "TriStar" or "Gold Emblem" state award designation on behalf of the Lampasas FFA Chapter during the annual Texas FFA award ceremonies in July at the annual State FFA convention in Lubbock. The Lampasas FFA chapter was notified recently of its selection as a Three-Star or Gold Emblem chapter as part of the National FFA Chapter Rating Award.

The LISD's FFA program was rated and ranked by a National Selection Review Panel that met in July in Indianapolis, Ind.

The local program had been a Tri-Star or Gold Emblem chapter designee in the past and was a 2004 National Models of Innovation Winner.

The LHS FFA was ranked on its 12-month program of activities in the areas of community development, chapter development and student development.

Representatives from the local chapter will be recognized as part of the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis in October.

There are 1,020 programs across the state and over 9,600 programs worldwide.
