Pretrial set in capital murder case
      A pretrial hearing is set Sept. 26 in 27th District Court for Jeremiah John Ellison, 26, of Copperas Cove for capital murder. He is charged in connection with the death of 31-year-old Hidi Gower of Copperas Cove who was the victim of an alleged murder-forhire plot by her husband, Donald Dean Gower, on July 4, 2007.

Law enforcement officials note recent arrests
      The following arrests were reported by law enforcement officials. Aug. 19 -- Calvin Ray Pavey, 20, of Lampasas for possession of marijuana under two ounces and public intoxication. He posted bond and was released from the Lampasas County Jail the same day.
