This weekend is last chance to buy school supplies

The first day of the 2008-09 school term is Aug. 25 for students in the Lampasas Independent School District.

And, for those who need to purchase school supplies, a list for students entering prekindergarten through eighth grades is provided.

District officials encourage parents to renew expendable supplies periodically. Additional supplies may be requested near the beginning and during the year.

The list follows.

Prekindergarten

1 jumbo glue stick (.77- ounce size)

1 box of washable markers

1 box of crayons (8 basic colors only, no fluorescent, tropical or glitter colors)

1 package construction paper in assorted colors, 9 inches by 12 inches, no tablets

2 paper folders or one plastic folder with side pockets and brads

1 large box of facial tissues, unopened

1 box of baby wipes

1 backpack, large enough to hold folder

1 box gallon-size Ziploc bags, boys to bring; 1 box quart-size Ziploc bags, girls to bring.

Kindergarten

Do not label supplies with student's name. No mats, please.

1 package of No. 2 pencils, no fat pencils

24 bottles of Elmer's School Glue, 4-ounce size, black label, no gel

2 boxes of 16 Crayons, no fat Crayons.

2 boxes of 8 Crayons, no fat Crayons

1 package of fat markers (no thin ones), basic colors only, prefer Crayola brand

1 package dry erase markers

10 glue sticks

2 packages of manila paper, one pkg. 12 inches by 18 inches, one pkg. 9 inches by 12 inches

2 packages construction paper in assorted colors, one pkg. 9 inches by 12 inches, one pkg. 12 inches by 18 inches

1 writing tablet, ruled (Zaner- Bloser for K-1)

1 spiral notebook (60 pages, wide-ruled, non-perforated)

2 plastic folders with side pockets, any color, with brads

1 pair of scissors. Fiskar cuts best and lasts longer

First grade
