LISD food service personnel honored at state conference
Members of the Lampasas Association of School Nutrition who recently attended the state convention include, front row from left, Lois Benoist and Sandra Blake; and back row from left, Stacey Hensiek, Virginia Valiquette, Deborah Pilgrim, Jimi Burnett and Dianne Kepler. Lampasas Association of School Nutrition sent Dianne Kepler, Stacey Hensiek, Jimi Burnett, Deborah Pilgrim, Virginia Valiquette, Lois Benoist and Sandra Blake to the state conference in Corpus Christi.
They attended several workshops about child nutrition in the schools and new ideas about the school breakfast and lunch programs.
The Lampasas association took home several awards, including the Ruby Emblem for membership and the President's Gold Award for its program of work. The group also was recognized for increasing participation 10 percent or more in the breakfast program.
Ms. Hensiek received the Specialist of the Year Award, and Ms. Burnett earned the Achievement Award for continuing education. She also graduated from the Texas Association of School Nutrition Managers Academy.
Ms. Pilgrim received the Partnership in Nutrition Certificate for her many contributions in support of school food and nutrition programs.
Mrs. Kepler received the President's Gold Award for her program of work.
Lampasas Association of School Nutrition is very involved in the community. They hold bake sales, catering, knife sales and other fund-raisers during the year. The association also provides two scholarships each year to graduating Lampasas seniors.
Members also have adopted the HeadStart program and a nursing home at Christmas. Members attend the state conference each year for training and new ideas.
