Mr. January
Douglas January Funeral services for Douglas M. January, 76, of Port Lavaca were Aug. 19, 2008, at Richardson-Colonial Funeral Home Chapel in Port Lavaca with Brother Mike Gresham officiating. Burial was Aug. 20 at High Valley Cemetery at Bend.
Mr. January died Aug. 17.
He was born Nov. 25, 1931, to Thomas Houston and Ethil Phillips January.
Mr. January was a retired crane operator with Brown and Root, and he served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the VFW.
Survivors include his wife, Virgie January, of Port Lavaca; children, Ardith January of Victoria, Dale and Sylvia January, Melissa and Joe Sterling, and Roy and Barbara January, all of Port Lavaca; sisters, Tommie Coburn of Bend, and Sammie Edelmann of Evant; 13 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Sybil Porter and Charlotte Bass, and a brother, John Paul January.
Pallbearers were grandsons, Jason January, Bobby Pena, Steven Morris, Lucas Morris, Justin Machicek and Eric Gregory.
Honorary pallbearers were greatgrandsons, Kade, Nicholas, Holston, Brandon, Dillan and Willie.
