Judge gives jail sentence
      In a short docket last week, 27th District Court Judge Joe Carroll sentenced Mitchell Colby Gardner, 22, to one year in state jail for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. The judge also gave Gardner 10 years' probation for theft over $20,000 and under $100,000, and ordered him to pay $5,360 in restitution.

Meet teacher night slated; LHS late registration set
      Lampasas Independent School District will hold Meet the Teacher night Aug. 21 at several campuses as follows. Kline Whitis Elementary: 5-6 p.m. Hanna Springs Intermediate: 6-7 p.m. Lampasas Middle School: 7-8 p.m. Late registration for new Lampasas High School students is from 5-7 p.m. at the school library.
