Doyle Haywood Doyle R. Haywood, 76, of Lampasas died July 23, 2008, at the Temple VA Hospital.

The body will be cremated and his ashes will be placed at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen at a later date.

Mr. Haywood was born March 23, 1932, in St. Joseph Parish, La., the son of Sam and Amy Morgan Haywood.

He was a career soldier in the U.S. Army and retired as a sergeant first class.

Survivors include a son and his wife, Bruce and Peggy Haywood, of Lampasas; a daughter, Cathy Blanchard, of Lago Vista, and her husband, Lane; three grandchildren, Eric Blanchard, Lee Blanchard and Rylee Haywood; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Mark and Drew Haywood.
