From an injury to heavy rains, the Lampasas Blue Blazes met with some trouble at the Games of Texas last week in San Antonio.

Coach Trent Lancaster said he is proud of his athletes and their accomplishments during this summer track season.

The discus event, set for last Thursday, was postponed a day due to the torrential rains of Hurricane Dolly.

Cody Crofoot, who had the best throw in Texas in regional competition for the 14 and under age group, injured his ankle the day before the event, and was unable to participate.

Of the six Blue Blazes who competed in seven events, only Presley Peters qualified for the finals. She posted the fourth-best preliminary time in the 80-meter hurdles with a 15.51.

She finished fourth in the 12- and-under finals but improved her time to 15.25, said Lancaster.

Following are results from the Games of Texas prelims.

Caitlyn Shaughnessey placed 15th in the 80m hurdles for the 12 and under age bracket.

Ashley Lowery took 11th in the 100m hurdles and 10th in the 300m hurdles. She competed in the 18 and under division.

Joshua Barbero finished in 16th place in the 14 and under 110m hurdles.

Blake Graham took part in the 12 and under long jump event.

Frank James placed 11th in the discus in the 18 and under division.

"All in all, I think the Blue Blazes had a successful summer," said the coach.
